How to prepare for IAS Exam -Beginners Guide

Dear Students ,

Let us simplify IAS exam first ,understand the pattern and process. Then lets make our strategy and work towards our success.


HOW TO PREPARE FOR CIVIL SERVICES ?
Civil Services Exam is a common entrance test for All India Services like IAS,IPS,IRS,IFS ,etc.

Note :
There is also negative marking is 0.33.
Paper 2 is a qualifying paper .One has to get a minimum score of 66.67(Applicable from 2015)
Hence ,only Paper 1 marks count for the cutoff from 2015.

ESSAY
One or two essays.

GENERAL STUDIES PAPER 1
Indian heritage, culture, history, geography of the world and society

Note :
Two qualifying papers: English and any of the languages mentioned in the eighth schedule of the Constitution (not for final ranking)


PERSONALITY TEST-


An interview ,out of 275 marks.


FINAL SCORE -


The total of the Mains examination and personality test decide your total score.And your All India Rank is allotted on the same basis.

    1. Yes ,you can prepare on our own. Just find a person to guide/mentor to help you understand more about the exam.

  10. sir i completed my B.E but i have 12 history of arrears in my profile as i cleared it in my last semester .but now i like to give civil service exam because i am starving to develop my country whether my profile will gain me a negetive if cracked the main and go for interview

      Your past performance should not hinder you from aiming high.A lot of people who succeeded in life were dropouts or failures in initial stages of life.Just believe in yourself ,focus on the goal and work sincerely.
      As far as the interview is concerned ,we can always work a way out .Dont worry.

  12. This section is great help for beginners like me. Im about to complete my Mech Engg. My dad is about to retire this June. As stated above, a dedicated one year is essential to crack upsc, but due to financial issues ill have to work after graduation. Does it concludes i cannot crack if i cannot a complete one year?

      I also cracked civil services preparation while working as a teacher full time. So dont worry. Dedicate your time judiciously. You will be able to crack the exam. All the best.
